The Sheltered Instruction Observation Protocol (SIOP) Model is a lesson planning and delivery system that when implemented to a high degree can bring significant gains in grade level academic content and English language proficiency for all students, especially English learners. The SIOP model is the result of research by Jana Echevarria, Mary Ellen Vogt, and Deborah Short and is published by Pearson. Some of the resources in this website were adapted from Center for Applied Linguistics and are intended for use by CCPS teachers for the purpose of professional development. Individuals using these materials are not to duplicate or distribute any of the CAL SIOP (as noted) materials.
