Hi, I’m Mrs. Day!

I believe that every child is made in God's image and has a unique set of gifts.  It’s my joy to help nurture those gifts each day. In our classroom, I focus on connection before content, because we know that humans learn best when they feel safe, seen, and supported.

I aim for hands-on and kinesthetic learning—I love getting students up, moving, and actively engaged in their learning. I also use brain-based strategies for self-regulation so students can build the skills they need to manage their emotions and focus on learning. 

I earned my Master’s in Elementary Education from Emporia State University, and this is my 6th year of teaching. Before I was in the classroom, I stayed at home with our sons for nearly a decade and also taught ballet, which gave me a passion for creativity, movement, and expression—aspects I still incorporate into my teaching.  I appreciate working hard and being silly when appropriate.  No one is leaving the building all day, so we might as well expand our minds and have a little fun.  

This year our two boys will be a senior and sophomore in high school.  We are also hosting a teenage exchange student from France.  Our family loves to snow ski, hike, boat, and golf.  We're nuts about our doodles and take them on most vacations.  

In our classroom:

• We value relationships first. Every child matters and belongs.

• We celebrate differences and unique strengths. We're not robots, and God designed each one of us for a purpose.

• We applaud mistakes as part of the growth process.

• We work super duper hard and don't forget to play.
