Staff Development Committee

Objectives

  1. To develop professionalism among staff by recognition of professional autonomy and encouragement of conscientious participation in activities which are beneficial for learning and teaching, student development, school development and professional relationships and services.

  2. To enhance staff's professional skills and knowledge so as to cope with the challenges of the education system, especially for the NSS curriculum in the near future and the societal needs.

  3. To nurture a learning climate and provide support and resources for staff development.

  4. To promote a harmonious and caring working atmosphere among teachers so as to enhance staff collaboration and develop a sense of belonging to the school.

Duties

  1. To provide appropriate support services to the newly appointed and inexperienced staff, and to familiarize the new teachers about our school structure and routine. The activities include an induction programme and a mentorship scheme of our school.

  2. To arrange training for staff with special duties, e.g. form teachers, middle managers, etc.

  3. To develop and promote the use of data and training records for the planning and evaluation of staff’s professional development.

  4. To arrange and review staff development programmes.

  5. To reserve adequate resources, e.g. training allowance, to staff development and create space to facilitate professional development.

  6. To purchase and manage useful reference literature and reference resources for the staff.

  7. To arrange outstanding teacher election.

  8. To organize or arrange appropriate programmes for our staff to cope with the needs for the school development.
