Absences & Excuses

CCBOE Student Attendance Protocol

Students cannot learn if they are not in school. For this reason, absences must be kept to a minimum.

• If it is necessary to keep your child at home, a written note explaining the absence is to be sent on the first day your child returns to school. Any absences for which an explanation is not received will be recorded as unexcused.
  
  

• If a pre-scheduled absence (i.e.: doctor’s appointment) is necessary, please call or send a note so that your child’s work can be prepared and completed in a timely manner.
  
  

• If your child will be out for several days due to illness, please let the school know.
  
  

• For purposes of recognizing perfect attendance, students must be present every day.
  
  

• Students must be in school until 12:10 in order to be counted present for the day. Students who leave and return must be present a total of 3 and ½ hours.
