The Family Letter helps parents support the module's learning objectives.
Within this module there are 3 Weekly Assessments. These Weekly Assessments test students’ understanding of the current Reading skills (found below in anchor charts) by assessing comprehension and vocabulary.
The Weekly Assessments include the following question types:
• Selected response: These questions require students to choose an answer from several provided options.
• Constructed response: These questions require students to write or type a response.
• Technology enhanced adapted for print: Online, these questions require students to click, drag, or interact in order to respond. For print administration, these questions have been adapted to require students to draw or write to respond.
How is the information in the passage mostly arranged? How is cause-effect text structure used in paragraph 5? How does the author use problem-solution text structure in paragraphs 6 and 7? Choose 2 effects of the cause.
What is the central idea of the paragraph/article? Choose the two sentences from the article that support the central idea. What is the passage mostly about? Which sentence best states the central idea of paragraph 4?
What does the picture help the reader understand? What does the dash in this sentence tell readers? What information does the bar graph give? Which part of the article is shown by the two pictures?
What do these animals have in common? Why does the author use those words? Identify the simile. Explain what the simile tells readers.
Which sentence from the article adds to the mood? Why did the author most likely include paragraphs 9 and 10 in the article? Why does the author most likely repeat the word in paragraph 6? How does the writer present the ideas in the paragraph ? Based on paragraph 2, how does the character feel? Which sentence from the article shows the character is excited?
What was the author’s purpose for writing the article?
