Lost Library Books

Things to do if your child has a  lost library book:

Book Fines

Sometimes... life just happens and accidents occur to books or they simply become lost.  In such event,   a fee is issued so that we can replace the book in our collection.

A frequently asked question is "Why are library books so expensive?"     Library books are purchased from the publisher with special library binding and covers.    (Usually more durable for frequent use.)   In addition,  with each book,  we must purchase a barcode,  a MARC record,  Lexile labels and pay shipping.     The average cost of a library book is $22.00.   (Some books cost up to $30.)   In order to replace a lost book and not loose funding for purchasing new books,   a $20 replacement fee is charged to cover the cost of the book.      (Which is why we would much rather have the original book back.)

If it becomes necessary to pay the replacement cost of $20,   please use RevTrak for payment.   We thank you for helping us maintain our collection for our readers!
