Introducing our STEAM Lab! This year we are bringing STEAM Lab to our Specials rotation. So in addition to Physical Education, Art, Music, Counseling, and Library, our students will also have the opportunity to explore our new lab!
What is STEAM?
STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math.
What does that mean for a classroom?
We will receive weekly missions that will encourage our students to:
Ask – Identify the problem or need and ask questions about what they want to solve and understand any potential issues, such as materials, time, or cost
Research – Gather information and explore existing solutions.
Imagine – Think creatively and consider all possibilities, even unusual ones
Plan – Choose the best idea and design a solution. This may include drawing diagrams or listing materials needed
Create – Build or implement the solution using everyday materials, Legos, or craft supplies to bring our ideas to life
Test – Try out the solution and see how well it works. We will test our creations individually or with peers and gather feedback
Improve – Reflect on the results and make changes to enhance the solution. This step encourages perseverance, resolution driven thinking, and progression building
We will also work on social skills, such as, SELF-CONTROL, COOPERATION, RESPONSIBILITY and many more life skills. I am so happy to spend this school year with your and your family!
My goal during our experience together is to introduce our students to the STEAM experience and encourage their creative thinking. We will be frustrated at time. We will struggle at times. We will have many successes. We will expand our thinking process. We will celebrate together!!

Just a little information about me: I am a mother of three children. My two oldest are off to college and my daughter is in 8th this year! She is very into Musical Theater. We have three cats, some fish, and a ton of plants! This will be my 12th year teaching. I have taught six years of first grade, one year of 3rd grade, three years in second grade, one year in fifth grade and now I'm the STEAM Lab Teacher!
