Lakeside Middle School
Learning Commons
Welcome to the Lakeside Middle School Learning Commons!
At Lakeside Middle School, our library is committed to fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment where students and visitors feel supported and inspired. We strive to provide accessible resources for all, offering tools, information, and guidance to promote academic success and personal growth. With a focus on positivity and collaboration, we aim to empower every individual in our community to explore, learn, and thrive while being respectful, responsible, and ready every day.
Students are welcome to visit the Learning Commons during the day with a pass from their teacher. They may come to checkout books, read, do class work, conduct research, participate with makerspace activities, or make a purchase from the school store.
We have a large selection of fiction and nonfiction titles. The fiction section is organized by genre, and within the genre section books are arranged alphabetically by author's last name. The nonfiction section is organized using the Dewey Decimal system. We have a certified teacher-librarian and a media clerk available to assist our patrons as needed.
Please use the navigation toolbars at the top of every page to direct you to all of the electronic resources that our library offers.

Meet your librarian!
Mrs. James is the fifth Media Specialist that Lakeside Middle has had since it opened in 1989. She used to attend LMS as a student from 2001-2003, and she remembers how great the library used to be, and she only wants it to get better! She has been part of the LMS library team for 7 years, and accepted the Media Specialist role in 2022. She loves learning through exploration, so she enjoys designing escape rooms and other fun activities where students don't realize they are learning.
She is also a huge fan of reading, and she tries to read 100 books every year. She is also a book reviewer for NetGally and is a book judge for the Independent Book Publisher's Association.
In addition to reading, Mrs. James runs the yearbook. She loves getting involved and is normally seen wearing her camera like a necklace around the school.
