Mr. McGill

Mr. Dan McGill is the teacher for Dramatic Arts classes and is the Director of Grovetown High School's Warrior Theatre. Mr. McGill first began performing on stage at the age of 15, in Gainesville, Georgia. He became a member of the International Thespian Society in 1985, and many of the friendships he developed then are colleagues now in the Georgia Thespians family of directors/teachers. Once upon a time, he did some minor film work in Atlanta, but more recently has been active in the Augusta area with The Augusta Players (Christmas Carol, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, and Something Rotten), as well as with The Augusta Broadway Singers. He has previously served as both a musical director (Aladdin Jr. and Sleeping Beauty), and as the director (Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day) for The Augusta Junior Players. He teachers acting each summer as part of The Augusta Players summer theatre camps. Among his favorite plays is Ken Ludwig's LEND ME A TENOR, and among his favorite musicals are My Fair Lady, Billy Elliot, and The Color Purple! In addition to teaching and directing, Mr. McGill enjoys writing, performing, and cheering on his beloved Clemson Tigers. He and his wife have two children, a daughter, who is a chemistry major at Clemson university, and a son who is a musical theatre major at Coastal Carolina University. In addition to his teaching and directing, Mr. McGill is well-versed in the college audition process for those who wish to pursue acting/theatre beyond high school.
