MUSICAL THEATRE classes are PERFORMANCE CLASSES, and all students will be required to participate in individual, group, and class productions. Students will: study musical theatre history; identify and understand contributions of major professional performers and their contributions to musical theatre; develop personal vocal technique for theatrical performance; be introduced to various styles of dance; and apply acting techniques for musical theatre performance. In class, student will present individual showcase pieces, collaborate to present duet or group numbers; and combine efforts to produce an in-class musical for public performance.
Additionally, audition preparation is a major part of Musical Theatre. Students interested in theatre beyond the classroom or beyond high school will have the opportunity to perfect their college audition plans, prepare their audition repertoire books, and participate in mock auditions.
