Goal: Analiza e interpreta los acontecimientos, personajes y temas desarrollados en los capítulos I al V de Animal Farm, demostrando comprensión lectora, manejo de vocabulario contextual, organización cronológica de eventos y reflexión crítica sobre los elementos literarios presentes en la obra 

Topics

1. Comprensión lectora de Animal Farm (Capítulos I–V).

2. Análisis de personajes y relaciones de poder.

3. Vocabulario contextual y significado de palabras en la obra.

4. Los mandamientos y su función en la historia.

5. Secuencia de acontecimientos y desarrollo de la trama.

6. Interpretación crítica de temas y símbolos literarios.

Activities

1. Reading Log

• Re-read Chapters I–V of Animal Farm.

• Complete a reading log summarizing each chapter in 8–10 lines.

• Identify the main events and characters in each chapter.

2. Timeline of Events

• Create a timeline including at least 12 important events from Chapters I–V.

• Add illustrations or symbols representing each event.

3. Character Analysis

• Complete a character profile for the following characters:

  • Old Major

  • Napoleon

  • Snowball

  • Boxer

• Include:

  • Physical and personality traits

  • Role in the story

  • Important actions

  • Personal opinion

4. The Seven Commandments Activity (This activity applies only to Grade 11A)

• Write the Seven Commandments of Animalism.

• Explain the meaning of each commandment in your own words.

• Provide one example from the story that relates to each commandment.

5. Vocabulary Portfolio

• Create a glossary with 25 key words from Chapters I–V. Include:

  • Definition in English

  • Example sentence

  • Synonym or illustration

6. Graphic Organizer

• Create a concept map showing:

  • Main characters

  • Conflicts

  • Important events

  • Themes of the novel

7. Reading Comprehension Assessment

• Create 20 questions and answer them:

  • 15 multiple-choice questions

  • 5 open-ended questions

• Based on Chapters I–V.

8. Critical Reflection Essay

• Write a 150–200 word essay answering:

  • What lessons about leadership and power can be learned from Animal Farm?

• Support ideas with examples from the text.

You must submit a Literature Portfolio containing the following activities based on Animal Farm (Chapters I–V):
