Goal: Analiza e interpreta textos de la literatura inglesa mediante la comprensión de vocabulario, la identificación de secuencias narrativas y el análisis de personajes y acontecimientos en cuentos de Guy de Maupassant, demostrando habilidades de comprensión lectora, organización de información y pensamiento crítico. 

Topics

1. Comprensión lectora de cuentos de Guy de Maupassant.

2. Desarrollo y análisis de la trama narrativa.

3. Vocabulario literario y contextual.

4. Secuencia cronológica de acontecimientos.

5. Interpretación crítica de personajes y temas literarios.

Activities

1. Story Summaries

   • Write a summary (10–15 lines) for each of the following stories:

     • Boule de Suif (Ball of Fat)

     • The Necklace

     • A Piece of String

     • Madame Tellier’s Establishment (Parts I and II)

2. Vocabulary Portfolio

   • Create a glossary with 25 vocabulary words from the stories. Include:

     • Definition in English

     • Example sentence

     • Illustration or synonym

3. Timeline of Events

   • Design a timeline for The Necklace and A Piece of String showing the most important events in chronological order.

4. Character Analysis

   • Complete a character chart for three main characters from the stories. Include:

     • Physical and personality traits

     • Important actions

     • Role in the story

     • Personal opinion

5. Reading Comprehension Questions

   • Write or create,  and answer 20 questions:

     • 15 multiple-choice questions

     • 5 open-ended questions

Based on the stories studied during the period.

6. Compare and Contrast Activity

   • Write a paragraph comparing two stories, focusing on:

     • Themes

     • Characters

     • Conflicts

     • Endings

7. Literary Elements Organizer

   • Create a graphic organizer identifying:

     • Setting

     • Characters

     • Conflict

     • Climax

     • Resolution

   • For at least two stories.

8. Opinion Essay

   • Write a 150-word essay answering:

     • Which story had the most important lesson and why?

   • Support the opinion with examples from the text.

You should submit a Literature Portfolio containing:

• Story summaries

• Vocabulary glossary

• Timelines

• Character analyses

• Reading comprehension activities

• Literary organizer

• Opinion essay
