Today pupils learned about filters, comparison, and self-esteem. We discussed how filters on apps can make people look different from reality and how social media often shows only the “highlight reel” of someone’s life. This can lead to unhealthy comparison and low confidence.
We encouraged pupils to think critically about what they see online and to focus on their own strengths beyond appearance.
Parents can help by:
Talking openly about what children see online.
Reminding them that images are often edited or filtered.
Encouraging offline hobbies and activities that build real confidence.
