Guiding the Roughs into the 2019-20 season is Coach Eric Snyder, who has held the head coaching position for 29 years at CHS. Assisting him are coaches Brett Zeiber, James Snyder, Brandon Keks, Anthony Brinkley and Andrew Oswald.
Only losing four seniors the prior season, the Rough Riders possess an experienced team led by 10 seniors.
Snyder sees their combination of speed, skill and size a necessary factor to battle in league and district playoffs for the postseason. All in all, he just wants to make the most out of the season.
“We were very close to getting into the Colonial League and District XI playoffs last year, and these seniors are hungry to get back at it for this year,” said Snyder. “But from a team stand point, I just hope that all kids get a chance to play this year and somehow, someway get a chance to at least play a part of their season.”
In addition to the returning players, some new players have shown valuable skills to aid the team with their high expectations of a postseason run.
Senior starting point guard Cole Schiffer believes this group is stronger and is showing much optimism for the season.
“We have some new guys that will be playing big roles for us this year, and we are making the tough obstacles seem very easy,” said Schiffer. “If we stay healthy and continue to play well together, we will be able to make a big run this year; all of us are very excited to get the season started.”
The Rough Riders were projected to play their first game on December 15, but started their season on January 11.
