On October 2, President Donald Trump released a tweet explaining that he had contracted the virus known globally as COVID-19. This news closely followed several rallies that he had hosted in the previous weeks.
Within the following two weeks of intense treatment, Trump was free of all coronavirus-related symptoms. Not even a week later, he was rallying once more for the upcoming presidential election that will be held on November 3.
As election day approaches, Republican candidate Donald Trump and Democratic candidate Joe Biden will be campaigning and conversing amongst the citizens of the United States, bringing themselves more and more attention the closer it gets.
Topics discussed include the September 29 debate that “unraveled into turmoil” according to numerous news outlets. Both presidential candidates found themselves yelling over each other, intruding on time meant for the other candidate to talk, disregarding the moderator, and using name-calling.
According to the Commission on Presidential Debates (CPD), the following debate even introduced the option to mute the opposing candidate whilst the other was talking, if that candidate continued the interruptions.
The general public found some common ground as most people, regardless of party affiliation, were unhappy with the tone of the first debate. In the second debate, both presidential candidates had clearly taken a step back and attempted to be more disciplined in the face of each other. This allowed them to stay on topic and deliver the proper messages they wished to convey without nearly as much hostility.
Trump’s most recent and memorable act as president includes announcing the nomination of Judge Amy Coney Barrett to fill the seat of the late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. The Senate voted 52-48 to confirm Judge Barrett, and she was sworn in at the White House on October 28.
Trump also held a rally at HoverTech International in Northampton County on October 28. His second visit to the Lehigh Valley in five months, Trump spoke to supporters for about 80 minutes.
As the election cycle enters its final week, the country may have to be patient as the task of tabulating mail-in voting, early voting and in-person voting begins on November 3.
