The CHS drama club is performing the musical “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown” in May. Tickets are now available for purchase. Due to the pandemic, the play will be available via video on demand instead of the usual in-person performance.
The musical is about a day in the life of Charlie Brown, the beloved comic and TV character, and includes much of the Peanuts cast of characters. The full cast includes Dominic Melendez as Charlie Brown, Hannah Kurczeski as Lucy, Joseph Valentin as Linus, Angelina Dries as Sally, Valerie Davidheiser as Snoopy, and Emily Abbott as Schroeder. Stephanie Emery, Emily Eisenhard, Kaylee Monahan and Brandon Snyder make up the ensemble.
Melendez is grateful to be able to perform in a show this year after having last year’s show cancelled.
“It means a lot to perform this year," said Melendez. "It shows we can still put on a show no matter what, and it’s also my first show as a lead."
Kurczeski is excited to play Lucy and work with her fellow castmates.
“Getting to bring this character to life in this show alongside such a talented cast is really a dream come true,” said Kurczeski.
The pandemic has affected the entire cast. Most rehearsals take place through Google Meets and play will only be available digitally. They have had to limit time in school and sanitize frequently, The choice of this play was key. It requires minimal props, sets and costume changes.
“You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown” is scheduled to be available on May 28-30, 2021. Tickets can be purchased for $15 per family at CHSdramatickets.com.
