Endowments ensure the sharing of the gospel never ends at Assumption BVM
For many Catholics, their local parish becomes a trusted faith community they gather with in times of celebration and turn to when facing difficult challenges. Just ask Joseph Bechtel whose family has been connected to Assumption BVM parish in Slatington since 1961.
Bechtel is an active parishioner as a lector and member of the finance committee. Although times have changed, Bechtel believes the mission of the parish has never wavered.
“Our parish is a place where families come for spiritual growth and lasting relationships,” Bechtel said. “We are family.”
Another long-time parishioner, Stephanie Phillips, wants to see her small parish, that feels like family, live on forever. Phillips is a member of the finance committee and believes that “growing the endowment funds with the Catholic Foundation will benefit the parish in the long run.”
As members of the parish finance committee, Bechtel and Philips believe every parishioner can play a part in making sure Assumption BVM remains a thriving, active, fiscally solvent parish.
“Sharing the gifts you are blessed with, be it volunteering, attending Mass or an activity, or giving financially, will help Assumption BVM succeed,” Bechtel said.
It is for this reason Father Eric Arnout, pastor, and the parish finance committee, support their partnership with the Catholic Foundation. Arnout believes this partnership will not only safeguard the financial future of the parish, but maintain its strong, faith-filled mission as well.
“Strong, healthy endowment funds will allow us to continue sharing the Gospel message through daily and weekend Mass, faith formation programs, and other parish activities,”Arnout said. “Together, we can preserve and strengthen our vibrant community of faith.”
