Kindergarten is a valuable experience for children. Young children develop enormously between birth and age five. The skills and values learnt in the first few years of life stay with children forever and affect their ability to learn and succeed for the rest of their lives.
In Kindergarten children:
- Learn through play and activities planned by the teacher guided by the Early Years Learning Framework.
- Play with other children and discover, create, improvise and imagine.
- Test out their ideas, ask questions and expand their thinking.
- Use a wide range of equipment specially designed to support their learning.
- Spend time playing and learning as part of small and large groups and on their own.
- Build independence, confidence and skills for getting along with others.
- Develop literacy and numeracy skills and learn about the world around them.
Birth to Five Learning
St Brigid's Catholic School is proud to partner with Early Years Educator Kristy Russell to deliver two weekly programs aimed at promoting healthy development for Birth-5 years. All families with young children in our community are invited to participate and sessions are free of charge. With links to the Early Years Learning Framework you can rest assured you and your little one is accessing the highest quality education programs in a fun, supportive and play-based environment.
Our primary goal is to engage you, as a parent and the first educator of your child. It is also hoped that what we undertake in our sessions can be repeated at home. We have a belief that through rich experiences we focus on the learning process. This includes the affirmations and celebrations, the learning and the challenges that are provided for you as a parent as you support your child.
