The first meeting between the schools involved in the project took place in Nailsea (UK). Teachers and students of the countries met at the school in Nailsea to plan the different stages of the partnership. The cooperation between Italian, Polish, Lithuanian, Turkish and English students and teachers was interesting and stimulating from every point of view and the trip allowed to all students belonging to different schools in different countries to get to know and understand the English school system up close and to visit amazing places. Bath, Tyntesfield and Bristol are just some of the destinations that were visited by the students and the teachers involved in the exchange.
Two different groups of students of Liceo Cassini had the opportunity of visiting Poland twice. They saw a lot of interesting places and deepened their knowledge of the country and its heritage, they had great fun as well.
We arrived at Warsaw-Chopin airport and then we reached the little town of Szydlowiec at the Primagor hotel.The first day we walked around the city and we visited the Town Hall, St. Sigismund’s Parish Church,the Castle, Radzwilll’s Park and the Museum of Folk Music Instruments.
The second day we met the Polish students of the Henryk Sienkiewicz High School in Szydlowiec. They performed for us the Polish traditional dance “Polonez”. We walked around the school and then we took part in “Cooltura” School Club, a workshop for students, where we tried to reproduce the monuments of the town with paper. They told us the historical background and geographical features of Szydlowiec and its surroundings. One of the Polish teachers played with guitar the Polish song “Sokoly” and we sang with him. At lunch we ate typical dishes at the school canteen. In the afternoon we visited the Historic Ironworks Museum and Manor House Spa in Chlewiska.
The third day we went to the village of Oronsko, a Polish Sculpture Centre, with the Polish students.
We visited a huge park where we participated to a workshop about photography techniques. We ate at Dobrut Restaurant, full of typical meals, such as pierogi. We visited the Museum of Regional Folk Life in Radom. At dinner we went to the “Piwnica Szydlowiecka- Pulcinella” Restaurant. Our new friends gave us a little gift, that we really liked. On Friday we left Szydlowiec and got to Warsaw, sightseeing the old and the commercial part of the city. We visited the Ewolucji Pan Museum about the evolution of living beings.
The last day we took the plane from Warsaw-Chopin Airport and came back to Italy.
Don’t worry, none has lost his luggage :)
