About Me

My name is Zoe Perrier, and I am a graduate of the Developmental Psychology graduate program at Case Western Reserve University. Additionally, I hold a five-year Early Intervention Specialist license in the state of Ohio. I completed my undergrad degrees in Psychology and Music from Case Western Reserve University. Working with students in the music classroom throughout undergrad, I grew a passion for understanding the way children think and behave across their lifespan. In my developmental course work and practica, my interest shifted to the rapidly changing younger end of this spectrum, birth-three, and the many factors affecting parenting at this age. My research focus is on parent stress-conscious interventions for families of children with developmental delays or disabilities.  My mission as a practitioner is to support children and their families in their unique journey through the first few years of life.

Job Experience

Unique skills gained in my job experiences include: Early Intervention Home Visiting, Instructing School Age Students, Data Collection, Creation of Individual Family Service Plans, Interprofessional Collaboration, Lesson Planning and Delivery.

Music Alliance Inc.

Starting in October 2022, I began a position at Music Alliance Inc, teaching instrumental music lessons in private schools in the Cleveland Area. My responsibilities include the creation of lesson plans for small and large group ensembles, communication with parents and school administration, and the organization of students' individual accounts. In this position, worked closely with a variety of students ages 8-14, tailoring instruction to their individual behavioral and educational needs.

Bright Beginnings

From June 2022 to October 2022, I worked as an Early Intervention Service Coordinator for Bright Beginnings. Here, I assisted in the creation of Individualized Family Service Plans, managed a number of cases in the early intervention system, and connected families to community resources. I attended weekly and monthly meetings and consistently updated the Early Intervention team on the timeline of my cases. In this role, I kept an active line of communication with the families on my caseload to ensure their comfort in the Early Intervention process.

Cleveland Sight Center

From January 2022 to April 2022, I was a Developmental Specialist for the Cleveland Sight Center, working on Early Intervention teams in Lake, Geauga, and Cuyahoga counties. I studied child development through the guise of vision, completing a class in developmental cortical and neurological vision impairment. I learned and executed early intervention strategies to help families reach their developmental vision goals. I collaborated with other professionals, parents, and family members to look at the child's environment as a whole.

Practicum Experience

Unique skills gained in my practicum experiences include: Home Visiting Observations, Delivery of Behavioral Interventions, Data Collection, Creation of Individual Family Service Plans, Interprofessional Collaboration, Lesson Planning and Delivery.

Cuyahoga County Board of Developmental Disabilities

During my final semester (Fall 2021) I participated in a part-time internship with the Cuyahoga County Board of Developmental Disabilities. My responsibilities included shadowing home visits with a Developmental Specialist, assisting in data collection, writing case notes, and attending weekly board meetings. Additionally, I assisted with the creation and delivery of an individual family service plan.

Friendship in Teams (FIT) Summer Camp

Fit Camp is a unique social skills development camp held at Nicole Gerami LLC, Speech and Language Services. Here, I worked with the 3-4 year old and 5-6 year old classrooms delivering lessons daily on developmentally minded topics like bigger vs. smaller, sequencing, and creative play. Throughout the day, I collaborated with the special educators and speech language pathologists to encourage children to learn social skills through games, activities, crafts, and free play with one another.

Parent-Toddler Group at the Cleveland Speech and Hearing Center.

In the Summer of 2021, I conducted 5, hour-long parent-toddler play sessions alongside two of my peers with several families from the Cleveland area. Under the guidance of two Speech Language Pathologists, we guided free play, a planned activity, and snack time. We worked on each child's goals using play-based techniques for language development and aimed to teach parents how to apply these techniques.

Epicenter ABA

At Epicenter ABA, I worked towards my Registered Behavior Technician Certificate through observing one on one ABA therapy sessions, entering data, and running sessions under a supervisor.  Here, I helped children ages 2-6 with Autism Spectrum Disorder reach their goals in increasing behaviors such as quiet listening, following directions, and effective communication while reducing behaviors such as elopement, self-injury, and property destruction.

Research Experience

Research Assistant in Clinical Neuroscience Lab

The Clinical Neuroscience lab focuses on individual differences in social functioning and social experiences that increase risk for psychiatric disorders. In the summer of 2020, I was responsible for literature reviews, paper draft writing, and team meetings. I worked with others to generate study designs. Main paper topics included the impact of social defeat on sexual minorities and the effect of fiction reading on theory of mind.

Research Assistant in ALERT Lab

The Attention, Learning, and Emotion Regulation Team lab focuses on understanding and investigating the social, emotional, and cognitive development of early childhood.  My responsibilities in the lab include data management, study recruitment, and subject assessment. My main focus during my time in this lab has been on a study aimed at screening and assessing for child development and parenting concerns during the COVID-19 pandemic.
