CAI Elementary Counseling
Hello!
Welcome to my site! You navigated your way and found me. My name is Mrs. Richards and I am the Elementary School Counselor. This is my 13th year at Christian Academy. I spent 11 years as the elementary and middle school art teacher. My classroom was always open to conversations and I learned quickly that students have needs that reach beyond the classroom setting. I felt the call to go back to school and received a 2nd Master's degree and this one is School Counseling in 2020. I have also journeyed personally through different stages of life including divorce, blended family, loss and grief, and have adult children and two grandbabies! My prayer and hope is that I can be a help and an advocate for the students so that they can grow in wisdom, stature, and favor with God and man as they journey through their school career.
Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.
About me and how I serve our school...
I've wanted to be a child psychologist since high school. My career path took me on a few journeys before landing in school counseling. This is my 2nd year as a school counselor and we are focusing on The Full Armor of God and character building/success skills in Guidance classes that meet once a month in each classroom. I also work with small groups and do short term individual counseling. We have assemblies for bullying prevention, safe touch, careers, and hygiene.
