When it comes to the Carver Middle HIgh School’s (CMHS) senior class, they are substantially smaller than the rest. Having a class of only 60 students has made it difficult to host functions and field trips in the past. Going through highschool during a pandemic has surprisingly made exciting events a little bit easier for them.
CMHS’s senior class depends on their class advisors for important dates, payments, and even college advice.
“It benefits to have a smaller class because it allows you to do more,” Senior Advisor Liza Bertram said. Bertram also said “300 people for a Disney trip, no way?!”
Remote learning cost them their junior year, leaving a lot of things to the unknown. Hopefully with a packed agenda, the class of 2022 feels like their high school experience is ending somewhat normally.
COVID safety measures will be implemented at most functions. Masks will be mandatory indoors, like for the Senior dinner dance and shopping in Boston. Their homecoming will most likely be outside and contact tracing will be necessary.
Alumni breakfast and senior show will likely happen. These are both longtime traditions that haven’t occurred since 2019.
When asked about how he feels about the upcoming school year, student Zach Ieronimo said, “I think we have a lot of good field trips. I’m most excited about grad bash.”
Overall, the feedback from Carver’s seniors and senior advisors has been very positive. As highschool is coming to a close, many treasured memories will be made at these special events.

Senior class of 2022 has a lot scheduled for their senior year.
DUCK BOAT- The duck boat field trip will take place Friday, Sept. 23 in Boston. “A good kickoff to a great Senior year” said Senior Class Advisor Liza Bertram. The Duck boat field trip set to go down the Charles River in Boston. Students are expected to be at school ready to get in buses at 8 a.m.
SENIOR DINNER DANCE - The senior dinner dance is scheduled for Sept. 22nd at 6:30pm at Lakeside Billow located in Halifax . “A chance for seniors to have a lot of bonding at dinner dance” said Bertram.
ALUMNI BREAKFAST- The Alumni breakfast is scheduled for Nov. 24, time not certain. There are also potential plans to have classes prior, like class of 2020 or class of 2019, to show up at the alumni breakfast.
SENIOR SHOW - For the senior show there is no set date, only a rough expectation that it will be in March according to the tentative schedule given by Bertram. According to Bertram the senior class the year before had planned on doing the senior show but due to regulations and a last second change to make it online ‘all motivation lost’ said Bertram.
“It benefits to have a smaller class because it allows you to do more,”Bertram said
Due to circumstances with covid the class of 2022 will be the first class since class of 2019 to get a close to normal senior year when it comes to events that come along with senior year. 6here some people might think the class of 60 doesn’t have much going for it, it opens a lot of possibilities when it comes to organizing and getting field trips where as a grade with 300 kids at another school isn’t able to do half the field trips the carver class of 2022 can, Bertram said.
When it comes to covid protocalls they will maintain the mandate that whenever indoors masks will be required and they will keep a lot of attention towards contact tracing and making sure they know who is with who at all times.
There is lots of anticipation among everyone for how the senior year for the class of 2022 will go.
“Seems like a great way to celebrate things partially going back to normal,” said Carver High School Senior Keegan O’Connor.
