About Mr. Jackson
Mr. Kason Jackson
Director of Vocal Music
Mr. Kason Jackson is in his seventh year as Director of Vocal Music at Carteret High School. In addition, Mr. Jackson is the Music Director for the Drama Club Program, & Tri-M Music Honors Society Advisor. Mr. Jackson received his Bachelor of Music Degree in Music Education with a concentration in Voice from Mason Gross School of the Arts of Rutgers University.
At Carteret High School, Mr. Jackson developed a vocal program with three curricular levels (Concert Choir, Chorale, & Chamber Choir) with more than 100 students participating. In addition, he has developed two extracurricular choirs; Varsity Vocals & Bella Voce. Under his direction, his choirs consistently received superior ratings at many festivals and competitions such as, Music in the Parks, Heritage Music Festival, NJACDA High School Choral Festival & ICHSA Competition.
As a choral artist, Mr. Jackson has performed in venues around the world including New York's Lincoln Center (Alice Tully Hall), Yankee Stadium, Philadelphia's Kimmel Center, Gloucester Cathedral (United Kingdom), London's Chapel of the Old Royal Naval College and University of Utrect in Utrect, Netherlands and more.
Mr. Jackson has recently been named a "Teacher Who Makes Magic" for the 2019-20 school year and NJ Governor's Educator of the Year in the 2018-19 school year at Carteret High School. He currently presides as the Inclusivity Chair for the New Jersey ACDA State Board. An active member of NAfME, ACDA, and NJMEA, Mr. Jackson frequently attends state & regional conferences and professional development clinics to further develop and grow as a musician and educator.
