Counseling Services

Individual Counseling

Individual Counseling is available to all students at the request of teachers, parents or the students. Please don't be alarmed if your child tells you they have met with a school counselor. Sometimes students visit once or twice and are able to solve problems on their own. If a student visits with a serious concern parents will be contacted so we can work as a team to resolve the problem.

Small Group Counseling

Group counseling provides students with the opportunity to interact with students with common experiences or needs such as frustration management, divorce, illness or death in the family, organization, friendships, self-esteem and coping skills. Small groups give the students time to share ideas and support one another. Small groups typically run 6 to 8 weeks for 30-40 minutes per session. Small groups are conducted based on the needs of the students.

Classroom Lessons

Classroom lessons are an important part of the school counseling program. Each month, we visit each classroom for two 30-40 minute lessons. Topics include skills for learning, empathy, emotion management, friendship skills, problem solving, and career development.
