Ni neart go cur le chéile
At this stage most of the first, second and third year students have received their books and stationery under the new scheme. We would like to reiterate to students/parents/guardians that replacement books or materials will not be provided by the school. It will be the responsibility of the parent/guardian to replace any books that are mislaid. The provision of stationery is a once off at the start of the academic year. Parents/Guardians will need to replenish your child's supply throughout the year. Please therefore ensure that your child has his/her name clearly on the books. Books should be stored in the lockers or school bags.
Again we extend our warm congratulations to the Leaving Certificate Class of 2024. The students performed exceptionally well with over 42% receiving 400 points or more and 14% getting over 500 points or more and many have received their first choice college places. Our Leaving Certificate Applied students excelled with 64% receiving distinctions and 36% receiving merit awards. It was fantastic to see so many in attendance at the recent Debs Ball in Rochestown Park Hotel.
The Transition Year school show, for January 2025, will be High School Musical. Casting is beginning this week and we encourage all of our Transition Year students to audition. More information is available from Mr McGrath and Ms Mullaney. Best of luck to all auditioning.
Our Transition Year students had a very enjoyable trip to Ballyhass. One hundred and ninety students traveled and participated in archery, water obstacle courses, canoeing, rock climbing and much more. A great time was had by one and all and everyone made it home safely!
Thanks to the staff that accompanied our students Mr McCarthy, Ms Mullaney, Ms Keohane, Mr Hickey, Ms N O’Connor and Ms AA O’Leary.

On Friday, Finbarr Mulcahy (Leaving Cert class of 2020), visited the school to tell some of our students about GeoGuesser and how he is representing Ireland in the world finals of the game! He stunned classes with his abilty to determine the exact location of photos taken through google earth anywhere in the world. He does this by reading subtle clues in each picture. (Sign post languages, street markings, types of trees and shrubs, even different types of traffic lights!!!) Our students were fascinated. Very well done to Finbarr as he carries on an impressive geography tradition from CCS!
On Tuesday we welcomed back Izzy O'Regan (All Ireland Senior Camogie Winner 2024) along with the O'Duffy Cup to CCS. Izzy spoke with the first, second and fourth year students. We are all incredibly proud of Izzy's acheivements and those of the Cork Camogie Team. Thank you for sharing your success with us in CCS, we have no doubt but that you are inspiring future boys and girls in sport.
Huge thank you to Aditya Thete (Year 6) for designing a greeting card with a sketch of the front of the school. Aditya is an incredibly talented artist.
The schedule of activities (matches/speakers/assessments/outings etc) is available on the school website for parents/guardians to view. This is updated each week.
