Our 1st years enjoyed their end of year school trip. We chose Rosscarbery and Smugglers Cove as it allows land and water based activities. Highlights from the day out included; a mini golf tournament, paddle boarding, kayaking and the water activity park. 

Although the weather challenged the students, it was not enough to dampen their spirits! They all really enjoyed their day out and got to know their classmates, and their teachers even better as their first year in CCS was wrapped up prior to heading into the summer exams. We wish them all the best in the few days to come. We also want to thank our First Years for the excellent year that they have completed. We would also like to acknowedge the hard work of the Year Heading team of Ms Cooke and Mr Leahy. Have a wonderful break. We look forward to starting it all again next year. 

Chess Leagues: The End of Year Wrap-Up

The Sicilian Gambit: This year was a total battleground. With the top ten players evenly matched, the trophy was anyone's game. Defending champions also had to juggle transitional year work experience commitments, making the road to the finals tougher than ever.

Karthik Lakshmanan Nachiappan showed amazing grit in a dramatic Swiss playoff to claim the crown. He fought off fierce competition from finalists Kuba Tumidakski, Lucas Rubinstein, and Ronald Almogue.

A massive shoutout to past champions John Luke Salvatierra and Youssef Elsaber, plus Dobromir Razniewski, Dillon Kelleher, Sam Oldacres, and Ruby Treacy, who pushed the leaders to their absolute limits.

Checkmate Classic: Brian Quinn conquered a gruelling Swiss format to take home the championship. Brilliant tournament runs from Ilia Rymkus, Kristof Farkas, and Leo Mielcarek earned them well-deserved runner-up spots.

Munster leagues: Over 30 members took on schools across the county this year. Huge highlights include Dobromir Razniewski who secured a great result over the reigning Munster Champion, and Niki Marks taking first place in the individual women's division.

Goodbye & Good Luck: We are saying a sad goodbye to Denis Venci, Saoirse O Regan, Nathalia O Farrell, and our club captain, Connor Cashman. Thank you for making the club what it is today. Best of luck on your next adventure!

A huge thank you to Mr Downey for his guidance and leadership. 

A big thank you to Mr C O' Brien and the Meitheal team for their hugely positive contribution to all aspects of school life over the year. Well done to eveyone concerned. 

The end of the Transition Programme 2026 was celebrated with our Annual TY Awards Graduation, on Thursday evening. We would like to thank all parents, guardians, students and staff for a lovely evening of song, music and displays.  Mr. Burke addressd the gathering and spoke of the importance of the programme and how it marks the first steps into Senior Cycle. 

We were treated to the sights and sounds once more of the musical. Parents enjoyed the opportunity to view a variety of the creative and deeply personal exeperiences within the programme. 

A special thanks must go to the Year Heading team of Ms McKnight and Mr. McCarthy, and to the ever present Programmes Coordinator Ms O' Donovan. Also thank you to Mr McGrath and Ms Mullaney for managing the sound and music, while Mr T O' Donovan was a huge support on the techincial side of things. Finally a thank you to Ms G McGrath who continues to enhance every event with the aid of her Events Planning Team. 

Thank you to our wonderful students and enjoy the summer! 

Today marked an important milestone in the lives of our sixth years and the team that supports them. We celebrated together with parents and friends six years of learning, friendship, development and care. The day opened with photos with the class teachers. Although windy, this went off without a hitch. From there we had the signing of the year groups, a school talk about the Leaving Certificate and of course what graduation would be complete without a visit from the ice-cream van?

The formal celebrations began at 1:00PM with a packed hall. Canon Elaine and Father James con-celebrated the service together with some lovely music coordinated by Ms Cooke and Mr McGrath. 

The event closed with the certification of the students by their class teachers and a lovely video montage that depicted the students' journey together as they navigated secondary school.  

We ended the celebration with a slice of cake, a cup of tea and a chat.  

Special thanks to Veronica and Elaine for catering, to Ms McGrath and Ms O' Donovan and their teams for decorating, to Mr O' Brien for putting in the hard work to get it all together and of course to the dedication and attention shown by the Year Heading Team of Mr Nyhan and Ms O' Riordan. 

We wish all our sixth years every success into the future. 

The testimony of the students and teachers involved demonstrates the effectiveness and the positive benefits of putting down the phone and engaging with the world.  Students consistently talk about feeling happier without the phone. It might be a sacrifice initially, but it pays dividends.  As you can see some students have made it into a family tradition. Some students are repeat detoxers. All students are an inspiration to not just their peers but to the school community as a whole. So much so that certain members of staff are also now going to engage with the detox next year. 

Transition Year students Robyn Kearney and Kenza Benallal presented Kieran Dwane of BirdWatch Ireland Cork Branch with a cheque raised through their fundraising efforts throughout the year. Along with Aoife Geaney and Fergus Lawson, Robyn and Kenza tirelessly collected bottles in the school and brought them to the return centre each week. The money raised was gratefully received by the Cork Branch of BirdWatch Ireland. Thanks also to Ms Guerin for her work and support on this initiative. 

Congratulations to TY students Evie Dabrowska, Dominik Romaj and Youssef Elsaber who participated in the All Ireland Microsoft Office Specialist Finals at Dublin recently. They did the school proud and acheived exceptional results in the Microsoft Office Exams. Well done all and thank you to Mr Manning for accompanying the students to Dublin on the day.

A group of 41 TY students visited Apple recently as part of the Apple TY Experience. Thank you to parents of the students that invited us to Apple and also to teachers Ms McMenamin and Mr Manning for travelling with the group. It was an engaging day and students had the opportunity to work with the devices and apps available.

Congratulations to our 1st/2nd Year camogie team and coaches, Mr Hickey & Mr Leahy, who had a great win in their County Final today. A superb finish to an amazing year for our school teams.

It has been a fantastic year for CCS on and off the pitch. The teams have been triumphant in so many events and even those less fortunate have made it very far in their individual competitions. Today was about celebrating the U16 hurlers, coached by Mr Dinan and Mr  D McCarthy, the Athletics Team coached by Mr O' Sullivan and Ms O' Reilly, the U15 boys Rugby team coached by Mr O' Donovan, Mr S McCarthy, Mr Sahani, and Mr Buckley and finally the U16 boys Soccer team coached by Mr Corbett and Mr Crowley. 

The teams were lauded for their determination and their efforts by each of their coaches who took the mic to speak about the experience of working together. 

The junior school was in full attendance, cheers and clapping were a fitting tribute to the fabulous acheievements. 

A special thank you to Mr Burke for hosting and to Mr Looney for his organisation. 

The coaches also mentioned the tireless work of Mr McSorley behind the scenes, without whom, the matches would never have taken place. 

Well done to all concerned, you have set the bar very high for next year. Ni neart go cur le chéile

A sincere thank you to Izzy O' Regan All Ireland winning Cork Camogie player and CCS past pupil, for presenting our Junior and Senior Camogie panels with their medals this morning. Well done to our students on their great successes this year. 

Thanks also to all the staff involved with the teams- Ms O Connell, Mr Hickey, Ms Coughlan and Ms Kilcommons.

The last push after a long season saw CCS facing off against quality opposition in the  Abbeyfeale team. Everything was a challenge.  The rain, the wind and the packed stadium of Abbeyfeale supporters made for the kind of cauldon that would make faint hearts of even the bravest of players.  The team rose to the challenge. 

Led by Alex Kelleher at 10 (captain) three out of four conversions were sloted and some well worked tries from Mamadi Kondi saw us charge to a half time lead of 19 to 5 points. The second half however saw Abbeyfeale come out of the blocks fighting. They scored an impressive early try. 

CCS however were unphased. While sustained pressure mounted from Abbeyfeale it was met with dedicated and calculated defense. 

The final scoreline 26 to 15 is a tribute to the doggèd determination of the team. 

A huge thank you to coaches Mr O' Donovan, Mr McCarthy, Mr Sahani and Mr Buckley. 

On Monday the 20th of April the school gathered in the PE Hall to acknowledge and celebrate the boys' under 19 and under 17  Gaelic Footballers and the girls' senior and junior camogie teams.  Mr Looney opened proceedings with a short speech about effort needed and the benefits and legacy of sport.  

Speaking on behalf of the teams teachers Mr O' Sullivan and Mr O' Donovan spoke of the journeys to victory  and the commitment and togetherness of the group. Hard fought victories with tiny margins demonstrated the effort and belief that the sides hand in themselves. 

Speaking for the camogie teams Mr Hickey and Ms O' Sullivan paid tribute to the girls. They spoke of the camaraderie and the fun which underpinned the hard work which saw the girls rise to victory after victory. 

Mr Burke addressed the gathering expressing the pride of the entire community in the achievements of the teams. There were some lovely presentations and some final group photos. Both staff and students enjoyed the event. 

Carrigaline Community School came out 3-0 winners in the u16 Cork Cup final versus Clonakilty Community College on a blustery day in Cobh. CCS started quickly with a goal after 7 mins. A smart, no-look pass over his shoulder from the half way line by Cian O’ Neill put Kyle Barry through on goal. Kyle chased the ball down and managed to slide it past the outcoming Clonakilty goalkeeper. 

Clonakilty nearly replied instantly with a quick shot from outside the box just missing the target. The CCS defence, marshalled by the excellent Dean O’ Halloran, kept the Clonakilty attack to a few shots from distance in the first half which kept the CCS goalkeeper, Bosco Grau Cid, on his toes. 

CCS settled into the game more in the second half, playing against the wind and began to spread the game allowing both wingers, Dylan O’ Driscoll and Zinedine Louadah, space to attack the well organised Clonakilty defence.

10 minutes into the second half Mamadi Konde was introduced for CCS and this proved to be pivotal in deciding the contest. Konde scored a crucial second shortly after coming on as he got on the end of a Louadah pass and the third with the last kick of the game, after another through pass from the excellent Cian O’ Neill, who had taken the ball past 3 Clonakilty players. There was high praise for the Clonakilty goalkeeper who made a point blank save from Konde after an audacious attempt from Dylan O’ Driscoll from distance hit the crossbar and landed at the feet of Konde who was somehow denied by the keeper.

Clonakilty had a few half chances and were very unlucky not to get on the scoresheet.

CCS full backs, Zach Crowley and Mikel Alonso stopped delivery to the Clonakilty prolific forward who was also well marked by Jamie Lynch and Dean O’ Halloran. Centrally Max Connolly and Jack O’ Connor controlled the pace of the second half and collectively as a team CCS were good value for the win. 

Best on the day for CCS were Cian O’ Neill, Mamadi Konde, Jack O Connor, Dylan O Driscoll.
