Before moving to north Wales I was able to welcome guests from around the world into my home to learn how to prepare their own tea party from preparing the food properly and an overview of the role of the tea party in English social life. This led in time to researching and presenting longer courses covering all aspects of tea tasting, and how tea consumption, customs and rituals changed down the generations. I was fortunate enough to present lectures in the UK, mainland Europe Japan and South Korea.
This allowed me to explore and experiment with how we impart knowledge about customs of the past and also to examine what is history, how to test information we have handed down to us and also how our use of language also changes from past to present. This was very much an experimental Masters that provided me with tools how to interpret information from the past today.
