Message from Mrs. Mills
Hi Cardinal Family!
I wanted to introduce myself, Maria Mills, as the new director of Carolina Charter Academy. While I have been in the building throughout June, I am happy to be formally in the role now to help guide our school through these unprecedented times. Please rest assured that I will continue to keep you informed and involved in upcoming events and decisions as plans unfold. I will attempt at least a biweekly message during the summer and every week once the school year starts. I am so excited for some sense of normalcy but also to meet all your wonderful children as we (hopefully) get back into the building.
Currently, we’re waiting on authorities at the State and local levels to make some large scale decisions for what school life will look like in the fall for NC schools.Your patience, flexibility, and continued support for our school is greatly appreciated as we continue to navigate these uncharted waters together.
During July, please look for a specific email regarding Summer Bridge/Jumpstart program. This is geared towards students who might need additional support prior to the start of the 20-21 school year. It will be optional and details on actual instruction will be provided. Additionally, I am working on surveys to gauge the needs of our individual families for both this program as well as our start of the 2020-2021 school year. This data collection will be incredibly helpful if returned quickly so I can balance the safety of our students and staff as well as try to accommodate each families’ needs as well.
In the next few weeks, please continue to check our website, our Facebook page, and reach out to me if you have any questions. Our summer office hours are minimal due to COVID-19, but we are checking the phones, voice, and emails regularly. Please make an appointment before coming to campus.
I look forward to a wonderful school year regardless of how it will look. I’m so excited for this opportunity to lead our Cardinals to success.
Welcome to Carolina Charter Academy
Carolina Charter Academy (CCA) began with a desire for expanding school choice in Wake, Johnston, and Harnett counties. This region is a fast-growing area, but there are very few options available to parents. The founders visited several charter schools throughout the state. After gleaning ideas from their visits and conducting extensive research, the founders wrote an application and submitted it to the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction. The application was approved in 2017. Carolina Charter Academy opened in Fall 2019. CCA provides southern Wake, Johnston and Harnett county residents with a school that embraces a sense of community while offering a challenging curriculum and preparing students to be informed and involved citizens.
