Don't forget to read for 20 min and do your reading log for our Reading Road Trip!!
Just in case you wanted a little more information about me, here it is! I am a native of this area...grew up in Vista and graduated from Rancho Buena Vista High School. While I was there, I played volleyball, soccer, softball, and field hockey. I was also a part of the student council. It was in high school that I met my husband. His locker was right below mine! I guess it was meant to be!
After graduating from Rancho Buena Vista High School, I went on to study Liberal Arts at the University of San Diego. During my Junior year, I studied abroad in Oxford...what an incredible learning experience! I graduated from USD after four years and landed an amazing job at Pacific Rim Elementary!
I had an unforgettable 18 years at Pacific Rim Elementary. The first 3 years, I taught 4th grade and then I spent 15 years teaching cute little Kindergarteners how to read which was super rewarding. In 2018, I transferred over to Magnolia Elementary and I have LOVED IT! This will be my 8th year here in this wonderful community. At Magnolia, I have taught 2nd, a 2/3 combo, 3rd grade, and now I teach 3rd grade in Team MAG! Go Lions!
My husband Joe and I have 3 awesome kids. Emma is 23. She graduated from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo in June 2024 and is living and working up in Morro Bay. Jillian is 19 and is in her second year of college at Colorado State. Her major is International Studies with a minor in Global and Environmental Sustainability. Bennett is 13 and will be a 8th grader at Valley Middle School. Bennett keeps us running around town, dropping him off at football, baseball, or basketball practices. He loves all sports and hanging out with his friends. We also share our home with a GIANT Great Dane named Ash who will be 10 in October. Life is busy in the Lupica house, and we love that!
This year marks my 27th year of teaching, boy does time fly! I am looking forward to teaching 3rd grade again this year. I will be applying many new ideas that I discovered while completing my Master's degree at San Diego State University. My MA degree is in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Literacy.
I love reading and hope your children will learn to love it as well. It will be fun to watch them and guide them on their reading adventures. I can't wait!
I am also excited to learn and grow in Team MAG this year. I absolutely LOVE working with Mrs. Bentley and Mrs. McDonald in order to make our multi-age class a magical place. We are all in this together. This school year is going to be amazing. Together, we can do GREAT THINGS!
