About Me

I am so excited for the new school year!  Here is a little about me.  I was born in Michigan and moved to Poway, CA right before I started third grade. After graduating from Poway High, I went to Cal State University, Fullerton and majored in Child Development. I always knew I would work with children , so I went on to get my teaching credential at National University and got my first job at the elementary school I went to in Poway. I met and married my husband, Scott, that year. We have two adult children (Tyler and Rachel) who have gone through the Carlsbad schools.

I have been teaching on and off for 29 years -- starting in the Poway Unified as a Kindergarten teacher until I had my first baby. Eventually, I went back to working part-time at Pacific Rim Elementary and substituted when Tyler started Kindergarten. After 10 years, I returned to full-time teaching at Calavera Hills Elementary for one year and this is my 10th year at Magnolia --mostly teaching 3rd Grade. BUT, I am so excited to go back to where I started- KINDERGARTEN! I cannot wait to help your child start their education at Magnolia.  I LOVE my job and couldn't imagine doing anything else. 

In my free time I enjoy walking along the beach, reading a good book, exploring San Diego and have recently picked up pickleball.  

I take my job as your child's teacher very seriously and appreciate you joining me on this journey.  Together, we can make this a fantastic year for your child.
