Hello! My name is Roberta Schmitt.  I am one of Magnolia's Learning Center Teachers.  This year is my 16th year at Magnolia Elementary and my 27th year teaching!  For the 2023-2024 academic year I am supporting students in grades 2, 4 and 5.  I feel very fortunate to be able to work with such great teachers and families over the years.  

I was born in Montana, raised in the Chicago suburbs and had the opportunity to live and teach in Louisana, England, Chicago, and Idaho (thanks to my husband's military career) prior to settling in Carlsbad (now Oceanside).  My two boys went to Carlsbad schools and now are grown and living on their own.  I live with my husband, dog and cat.  

When I'm not teaching, I love spending time with family, traveling, reading, gardening, cooking, camping and exploring the local area.  

The part of my job I love the most is working with students and getting to see their growth  and improvement over the years.  The importance of working together as a school and home team is essential to this growth and I encourage open, honest communication.  Please don't hesitate to reach out!
