About Mrs. Vance
Hello! My name is Jennie ("Jeenie") Vance, and I am a very, very experienced teacher. This year, I will be teaching my thirty-sixth group of students.
Besides Magnolia, I have taught at Buena Vista, Aviara Oaks, Calavera Elementary and Calavera Middle School. I have taught all grades - First through eighth grade. At Calavera Middle School, I taught 6th & 8th grade English and Social Studies as well as various electives. My favorite grades to teach are fourth grade and sixth grade.
My pedagogy is that all students can learn. It's my job to provide varied speed and strategies to aid them. I also believe the classroom should be filled with laughter and questions.
On a personal note, I've been married for thirty years. My husband, Rich, and I have raised two children who have gone through the Carlsbad school system. My oldest child is Theo. He is a helicopter medivac pilot for the Army. In the picture he is receiving his captain bars and we are very proud of the young man he has become. My daughter, Lilia, lives with us as she navigates how to save up for her own space. She works locally and loves the fact that she still gets to live, work, and play in Carlsbad. My husband has retired twice from two different fire departments. He worked here in Carlsbad for 20+ years and also worked as a fire captain for the San Pasqual Reservation. We have 3 dogs living with us at any given time which makes for great entertainment. I come from a large family and try to spend as much time as I can with them.
