Meet the school counselors

Hi there. I've been a teacher and school counselor in the Carlsbad Unified School District for 29 years, all of which have been in middle school and I am so happy to be part of the Calavera family! 

I received my Master's Degree in School Counseling, Counseling Credential, and Administrative Credential from National University. I earned a Single Subject Mathematics Credential from Point Loma Nazarene University and my Bachelor's Degree in Psychology at UC San Diego. 

I am married, have two grown children, and several grandkids. My hobbies include beach volleyball, running, paddleboarding, pickleball and anything outdoors and most weekends, you'll find me at the beach. I look forward to working with you throughout your middle school experience!

I am excited to have the opportunity to support your students during these important and transformative middle school years. I’ve been a School Counselor since 2008 working in elementary, middle and high School.  I hold a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from Eastern Illinois University and a Master's Degree in School Counseling from Lewis University.

My family and I moved from Chicago, IL to beautiful Carlsbad in 2016, and we've truly fallen in love with the area and the incredible community here.  Outside of my role as School Counselor, I am also a wife and proud mom of 2 boys: Jackson, an 8th grader at Valley, and Ben, a 7th grader at Valley.  Our lives are full of sports, especially baseball and football, and we love spending our free time at the beach, outdoors and hopping around Carlsbad!
