Carlisle Sports

Sports fans out there, the cross country team for Carlisle recently had their first meet! Carlisle won with both genders. With the girls, Charlotte B and a runner from the other team came in first and second. For the boys, Ethan J and Matt came in first and second. The cross country coaches, Mr. Gale and Mr. Maier, are proud of their students, encouraging them as they run by. The eighth grade captains and assistant captains are Susannah S, Michael D, Lana B, and Isabella S. They are amazing captains who enjoy running.

Currently, the cross country team has around ninety members with an age range from fifth graders to eighth graders. The team meets four days a week, Monday through Thursday, letting the runners have a break on Fridays. The times are 3:00 to 4:30, with the runners going to homework club before practice. This gives the runners more time to finish homework. The team exercises throughout practice, with a 20-minute run around either Green Cemetery, the school, or Fox Hill. Every runner must be with another and must be back to the field by a certain time, decided by the coaches. The runners do not go to homework club before away meets but do go to homework club for home meets. The home meets are held at Great Brook Farms. These practices and meets go on through October, ending with a state-wide race. Cross country is a great way to meet classmates from different grades, creating an almost school-wide community.

I strongly encourage you to join cross country.
