Accidental Inventions

  1. Potato Chips

I know, it’s crazy! The very popular and common snack eaten around the world and made by hundreds of companies was accidental. The best sellers for big companies like Lay's, Tostitos, and Pringles are potato chips.

It all started In 1853 when a customer at a New York restaurant criticized the fried potatoes as being too soggy and big. The cook, George Crum, was done with the complaining, so he took the request into his own hands and cut the potatoes thin, fried them, and doused them with salt. And voila! The Potato Chip was formed!

2. Coca Cola

Again, shocking! The most popular and tasty soda created was originally a medical treatment!

In 1886, Coca-Cola was invented by a pharmacist named John Pemberton. During this time he was fighting in a war, and at the end, he was wounded. While he was getting treated, he got addicted to the morphine used to ease the pain. He began experimenting with coca wines for opium-free methods. After a lot of tries, it eventually included blending the base syrup with carbonated water by accident when trying to make another glass. Pemberton decided then to sell it as a fountain drink rather than a medicine. And now we cannot thank him enough for this great soda!

These are both amazing accidental inventions!!!
