1993-2006: Native Nation Building Era

After experiencing the convoluted and static nature of federal recognition, Native people began to reinvest in themselves and their lands. The prospect of decolonization as a means to access Native rights was renewed and aggressive campaigns to propose land restoration and claim tribal sovereignty were developed.
