Little Earth

1973

The Little Earth of All Tribes in East Phillips, Minneapolis was created. Little Earth is an intertribal Indigenous housing complex that is subsidized by the federal government and is currently the only development of its kind in the U.S., with another likely to come in Chicago. Little Earth was created by grassroots activism, specifically by the American Indian Movement (AIM) to respond to housing discrimination and forced assimilation.
