Kanehsatake: 270 Years of Resistance

1993

Alanis Oboswamin, a (if not the most) prominent Abenaki filmmaker, has produced many documentaries and films. One of her most well-known is Kanehsatake: 270 Years of Resistance (1993); the film as a public-facing piece of media assisted in conveying the injustices perpetuated. It focuses upon the 1990 "Oka Crisis" or "Kanehsatà:ke Resistance," which was an armed struggle over continuous stealing of Mohawk land by commercial developers.

The film can be found at this link.
