CONNECTED LEARNING

It is Spring of 5th grade, in the time of CoVid19. It is time to get creative and zoom in on what really matters. We know that children learn best when they learn together, but our learning communities have been redefined. Now, more than ever, YOU are part of your students' learning community, and our 5th graders are making connections across a variety of synchronous and asynchronous platforms.

For 5th graders, what matters is that they:

  • Feel connected to a vibrant learning community
  • Feel an internal sense of confidence, competence and direction
  • Find a healthy balance between what they want to do and what they need to do, between self-directed and adult-curated learning.

The table below summarizes our plans for the next six weeks, with these goals in mind. We have offered a variety of gateways for you to participate in our learning community, should you wish to do so. We know that each family is navigating its own sets of resources and demands, and that you have varying levels of availability, so these are most definitely opportunities, not requirements. But do keep in touch. Emails, anecdotes, ideas, and feedback are always welcome, and I'm always available during Office Hours. Stay connected!
