What is Mental Health?

Many things are discussed when talking about Mental Health. It encompasses many elements, however, many are not aware of what exactly Mental Health is.

What is Mental Health?

Mental Health is our psychological well-being and having true satisfaction in our adjustment to everyday life.

Mental health is more than just one thing, it includes our emotional, social, and psychological well-being. How we think, how we feel, how we act, are all a part of our mental health. Which, in turn, reflects in our ability to socialize, to make choices, and handle stress.

Factors

So many factors impact our Mental Health: genetics and brain chemistry, our culture and how we are raised, events in life, personality traits, life experience with trauma, abuse, and/or crisis, and our experiences within our family and community.

Treatment and Services

Mental Health problems are very common and treatable. There are many services and treatment resources available to help with your individual needs. Efforts and research in the mental health professional community are ongoing. As our world changes and progress, mental health services and providers adapt to the current needs in order to provide the best and most beneficial evidence-based treatment.

And You

Throughout time, experiences, and…just life, in general, we all experience changes in our mental health. These changes impact our thinking, our mood, and our behavior. If these changes create maladaptive thinking, mood, and behavior we struggle to find positive ways to cope with our psyche and life.

If you feel that you may be struggling with mental health related issues or need to find a way to process current challenges in your life, reach out for support.
