Self Care for Your Mental Health
Everyday life can be hard! We get stressed, frustrated, overwhelmed, and more. Whether you struggle with your mental health or just have an occasional bad day, SELF CARE is important. Having a way to calm yourself and remembering the joy in activities is the core to getting through a rough day, rough week, rough month, or rough year. Though these things take time and are a process when focusing on mental health, self-care can help.
Find an activity that you can turn to that just takes care of you! May it be a physical or emotional need that you are looking to have met both impact your mental health.
This list is just some ideas, please remember that your self-care is up to you. Self-Care is individualized to your needs and can be self-guided. Though a therapist can help you identify what might work for you.

Cuddle up with a hot drink and a good book
Schedule a therapy session- process your emotions
Call a trusted support person and just talk
Say NO to extra favors or requests
Reduce workload if you can
Watch a comforting or funny movie
Explore and look at art
Exercise- running, cardio, dancing, etc
Make sure physical human needs are met: sleep, food, hygiene, etc
Take a hot bath or shower
Read inspirational quotes
Get outside in the sunshine
Reminisce on childhood memories that make you happy (look at old yearbooks, photos, or stories that you loved)
Draw, Color, Sculpt, Journal, Create- Delve into art
Meditate or do Yoga
Unplug…get away from technology and enjoy time without it
Spend time with family
Create a plan with step by step goals
Volunteer in your community

Listen to Music, create a playlist that is positive for you
Do nothing, allow yourself a break and just relax
Enjoy nature- Explore the mountains, beach, park, etc
Watch the sunrise/sunset
