2026Acrylic on canvasDescription:
A metamodernist approach exploring the artist's personal knowledge of neo-cognitive expressionism through memories and recollection.
The concept or idea for this painting has already been formed or created in the mind before expressing it visually. The art style applied in this still unfinished painting came after the abstraction of the cognitive expressionism of Miracle of the Sun. Though the conception of Personal Knowledge have been gradually formed for years, its foundation successionally built over events that happened as history of our nation is being written in time and in space. Only when the painting is finally complete and ready to be shown, how reality is interpreted by the artist, that this new art style conceived by the artist is also complete, realized and consummated as an art piece---the art style applied concluded in entirety.
Though this new art style, its path manifold and its direction towards the future still uncertain, what is defining in this art style, its visual identity in this world, is that it is particularly unique to the artist and to the painting as a creative expression. This artist call this new art style as Self-Creativism or Creativism [combination of "create" + "ism" as defined in art].
This artist pondered days and nights to define this new art style, and will be writing more, editing words, drafting and composing sentences, and proofreading paragraphs just to convey the meaning, features and characteristics of this new and experimental art style this artist calls as Creativism.
It would be best to explain, elaborate and expand the fullness of this art style in detail through an essay, but for brevity of description, Creativism is, still in metamodernist perspective, self-referential to the artist and to the art.
Creativism is in this stage developing and challenging as it borders on a thin line with established art styles, like Expressionism, Abstract, or what recently this artist referred to her painting as Cognitive Expressionism, however, it is peculiar from other art styles for it is not just a novel approach in method, process or tools in creating or producing art, but the awareness that the artist, that being aware of being aware, is the art and the painting is just the visual representation of that.
What is art defines what can be art and Creativism allows time and space for this perspective [the artist as art] possible, the new art style feasible, and the painting as creative expression of ideas, thoughts, feelings, emotions, concepts, stimulations and experimentations, and symbolic representations realizable. And this art style fully realized completion once the painting is revealed and shown. Why is Creativism an art style because it is the artist's process in creating art and the result is the artwork, the painting.
The creativity may have been always there, Creativism identified, named and defined the style and techniques as a whole-of or in-totality approach, and will continue to convey meaning, not only for its own development as an art style, but to story tell what was once our past, now our present and will be our future for the next generations.

Miracle of the Sun (Number 1)
2026Acrylic on canvas12 x 16 inches₱170,000mcg@carataogabriel.comDescription:
Still a metamodernist approach in neo-cognitive expressionist style, an artist's creative expression to tell the tale that needs to be told: first, there was empathy, next prudence, and last but not least, compassion, revealing Our Lady's prophetic message to the 3 children urging the world to do---prayer, penance and peace.
Metamodernism is a perspective, a way of seeing--transcending what was learned, unlearned and relearned--began in the origins of modernism, to the dissent of postmodernism, now awakening to what is now metamodernism. In metamodernism, you are now self-aware of your being and becoming; you have awakened, to find meaning, as a way forward.
This is how the artist approached the planning, the creation, the painting of the Miracle of the Sun and the tale that needs to be told as a narrative. As the painting was being created, all throughout the process, the artist expressed varying emotions, sensory memories in cognitive recall, experiences and senses of past flashback recalling the events as if it happened in the present, right there, right now, as remembered, becoming clearer and clearer as succession of events occurred. This artist called it cognitive expressionism because the painting awakened cognitive processes, information and experiences--and you have now become aware of it that you are aware of it--as this artist had been, in metamodernist approach.
In the midst of modern life as events transpired as experienced or observed, and the secret as understood here to be--the interpretation of the stories where the viewer is led to make sense of the interrelatedness of both, despite the abstract representation, to form a cohesive whole in accordance to one's own perception--is that, in retrospection, what still holds true and resonates in perpetuity, giving strength when hope is waning and light dims, is Our Lady's words, as always had been, to do prayer, penance and peace, and that is what this artist understood in interpreting the Miracle of the Sun.
The story, if you ever noticed, had already been there, formed and revealed before it was ever painted. What of empathy, prudence and compassion in the painting are yet to be told in clarity according to this artist's cognitive expressionism, by and by.
