The CFA Center for Writing and Reasoning supports students in grades 6-12 in the areas of writing, reading, and critical thinking across the curriculum. The Center is located in Cameron Hall room 338 and can be accessed via the Bell Quad. The Center also serves to elevate and highlight writing/ reading opportunities outside of the classroom by sponsoring contests, special speakers, and more.

The Center for Writing and Reasoning (CWR) is available to work with students on building reading and thinking skills in all areas of their study. In addition, the CWR offers one on one support to middle and upper school students on writing they are working on in or out of the classroom. A teacher is available for 30 minute or longer sessions to provide feedback guided by the writer’s questions on the piece. Students (or teachers) primarily schedule appointments during a student’s free period or during select after school or before school sessions. To help accommodate different needs and remain flexible for the 2023-2024 school year, the CWR will be offering 4 types of sessions - Live Face to Face, Live via Zoom, Online Feedback, and Group Session.

The CWR also supports teachers across the curriculum by coming into the classroom to provide whole class, small group, or individualized instruction on any topic related to writing or reading. While the CWR does provide remediation at times by student or teacher request, it is not a tutoring center; it is a place for all writers and thinkers to build their skills and refine their craft. It is a space to celebrate writing and reading in all its forms. A primary goal remains to support as many community members as possible throughout the school year.
