SCHOOLS

Hello. We appreciate your interest in volunteering in Cape Elizabeth Schools and look forward to working with you. Parent, guardian, and community volunteers donate countless hours to our schools each year and are an integral part of our school district.

This volunteer website should provide you with all of the information you need to know in order to volunteer in our schools. If you have further questions after reviewing this website, please feel free to contact John Holdridge, Volunteer and Extended Learning Opportunities Coordinator at jholdridge@capeelizabethschools.org

Recent Changes to Volunteer Policy

A 2016-2017 review of the Cape Elizabeth School Volunteer Policy led to changes in policy that were approved by the board in June 2017. These policy changes will now be carried out in revised practice. Please notes the changes below. Questions can be addressed to John Holdridge at jholdridge@capeelizabethschools.org

*** All Volunteers will now be asked to renew their Criminal Background Check (CRC) every five (5) years. If the CRC section (section #4) of your Powerschool volunteer form is blank, please provide the information and permission necessary for your renewal.

*** Building principals will now approve all regular volunteer assignments. Regular volunteers are those who come in on a frequent basis for a specific purpose. Requests for regular volunteers will be made by teachers and staff through the district volunteer coordinator.

*** Volunteers whose work assignments include regular one-to-one support of individual students will be asked to complete a state fingerprint check. The fingerprint process will be paid by the district and facilitated by the district volunteer coordinator and will remain on file.

*** Volunteers who serve as overnight field trip chaperones will be asked to complete a state fingerprint check. The fingerprint process will be paid by the district and facilitated by the district volunteer coordinator and will remain on file.

*** Volunteers will refrain from taking and/or posting photographs and/or video of students using personal devices while serving in a volunteer capacity.
