Welcome to the Dancause/Doane team! I am Mr. Doane and I will be your 6th grade stem teacher this year. This is my 11th year teaching overall, and my 9th year teaching in Cape Elizabeth. I grew up in Cape Elizabeth my whole life and am incredibly grateful to be working with our amazing community of students, parents, and teachers. I currently live in Portland with my wife and one-year-old daughter, Baker. We found out that Baker is going to be a big sister in February, which we are thrilled about! Our summer has been well spent at Sebago Lake with friends and family. I have coached many sports here in Cape Elizabeth at all age levels, and I am hoping that some of you will run indoor track for me this year! I am very eager to start the school year and get to know all of you. Mr. Dancause and I are excited to be teaming together, as we have lots of fun-filled activities and work that we have ready to go!
Greetings Capers, I am Mr. Dancause and I will be your 6th grade humanities teacher. This will be my 16th year teaching middle school. I grew up in Cape Elizabeth before venturing on to the University of New Hampshire where I received my bachelor's and master's degrees in teaching. I've taught in public schools in Durham, New Hampshire, Newton, Massachusetts, and Cumberland, Maine. I live in Cape Elizabeth with my wife, my two young children ages 5 and 2, and our cat Rosie. When I'm not at school, I love hiking, skiing, paddling and fly-fishing my way through the mountains, rivers, and beaches of New England. I also enjoy writing poetry and eating popsicles. My absolute favorite part of teaching is spending 1-1 time conferencing with students to build relationships and recommend books. Tied for second is hosting socratic seminars or community circles. Oh and I can NOT wait to go back to Chewonki!
