Skills: Collaboration Communication Solution Seeking Contribution Reflection Leadership Empowerment
Traits: Knowledge Innovation Tenacity Agency Agility Civility Integrity
During the first weeks of school the teachers have been reviewing our BEARS expectations with the students in order to set them up for a successful year. This is an excellent opportunity to teach the traits of civility and integrity.
Be Safe & Kind
Exhibit Excellence
be Accountable
be Respectful
Seek Solutions
Our cross-grade level nature teams met last week for the first time this school year. They used their collaboration, communication, solution seeking, contribution, and leadership skills during their buddy time. It also happened on spirit day, so the majority of the students were wearing their school T-shirts.

Save the Dates
The Bear Fun Run will take place on September 19th during life skills time. Packets went home and are due back by September 11th! For every $100 you raise you get to throw a pie in a teacher's/principal's face.
September 15th-19th is spirit week. Please watch for more detailed information to be sent home in your child's backpack.
Our annual superhero sunset walk up Skyline Drive is scheduled for September 17th. We will start walking from Washington School at 5:30. Bring your family members and wear your superhero costumes with your hiking shoes.
This Thursday, September 4th, is our fall portrait day. You can either pay online, or have your child bring their completed form with exact change with them on Thursday. If your child needs another packet, please ask him/her to stop by the office tomorrow.
Headphones Needed!
If your child has not brought headphones to school, please send them in as soon as possible. When they are on their devices, especially the younger students, many things are read to them. Without headphones for many students in class you can imagine the noise and chaos this causes. Earbuds with or without cords do not work. They fall out of their ears all of the time, so please only send headphones so they can concentrate on their learning.
Did you know that gifted students have unique academic and social-emotional needs? Our district uses a variety of tools to identify giftedness in areas like reading, math, creativity, and leadership. Early identification helps us provide the right level of challenge and support for each learner. If you think your child might benefit from gifted services, reach out to your school’s GATE specialist to learn more.
