School Hours: School hours are 8:45-3:30. Children arrive between 8:30 and 8:45. Children may not enter the room before 8:30. Children may attend before-care if they need to be dropped off before 8:30am.
Early Pick-Ups: Please send a note to school or call the office if you are going to pick your child up from school.
Transportation Changes: If you need to make a change to your child's transportation for the day, please do so either in writing or by calling the office. We cannot change a child's transportation without your direct consent.
Transportation: Please let me know in writing if your child is to be a car rider (loop) for the year, the day, etc. If I do not have a note or word from the office, I must send your child on his/her assigned bus.
Classroom Parties: We will have four parties in kindergarten: Halloween, Christmas, Valentine’s Day. and the End-of-Year party. The parties are planned and arranged through parent helpers and PTO.
Newsletters: A Kindergarten Newsletter along with a homework calendar will be sent home each month highlighting the skills and concepts that will be covered for the month. Please post the newsletter in a convenient place so that you may refer to it throughout the month.
Absenteeism: When your child needs to miss school, please call the office to notify us that your child will be absent. Whenever possible, I will send any missed work home with your child. However, due to the nature of the activities, I cannot always send the work home with your child. Most of our activities in kindergarten are “hands-on” in nature rather than pencil-paper tasks.
What can I do at home to help my child at school: The easiest and best thing that you can do at home with your child to help him/her succeed at school is to read aloud to your child every day. Research has shown time and time again that children who are read to every day become good readers.
Birthdays: Due to health restrictions, we will no longer have birthday treats in the classroom. If your child is having a birthday party, he/she may not pass out invitations at school. I would be happy to send home a class address list for you to mail them.
Folders: Please check your child’s folder every day. I also check for any notes from home. If you are sending a note to school, please put it in your child’s folder. Please send the folder to school every day!
Conferences: Parent-teacher conferences are held in October and February. However, you may contact me at any time with any questions or concerns you have.
Report Cards: Report cards will be sent home after each 9-week grading period.
Belongings: Please label all of your child’s belongings, including book bags, hats, coats, gloves, hoodies, boots, etc. Many times the children will not recognize their own belongings, so they end up in the lost and found.
Snack: Kindergartners are responsible for bringing their own snack to school each day. We are the first lunch of the day, therefore, we will have a snack towards the end of the school day. Students can bring a simple snack each day that does not have to be refrigerated.
