"THE ARTS ARE THE BEST THINGS WE DO"
MY PHILOSOPHY
When a child first picks up a pencil or a crayon they do not pick it up to write a letter of the alphabet or a word, they draw. Art stimulates creativity and expressionism in students. Students should be encouraged to express themselves in their creation of art. Allowing students to express themselves, their ideas, and their feelings in their artworks motivates students to be creative. It is important for students to realize art is in their everyday lives and they may not even know it. Art is in history, architecture, design, etc. The study of art history is an integral part of your learning; the past is part of the present. I want students to see art outside of the classroom. I want to be able to show students art is all around you.
My mission as a teacher is to guide, build self-esteem of my students and show students they CAN succeed. I set high expectations for my students and in return I want my students to produce work with quality effort, craftsmanship, and work to their fullest abilities. I want students to discover talents they did not know that they had, and utilize their talents to their fullest.
