Diversity Education In Nature (DEIN) uses the power of learning directly from the Earth, our oldest and greatest teacher, in a way that excites and motivates participants of all learning styles. DEIN combines the power of outdoor learning with the benefits of diversity, equity, and belonging best practices. The programs combine hands-on activities that can be conducted in any outdoor setting and are followed by collaborative group activities, discussions, and individual reflection exercises that generate ideas and points of inspiration that can be applied to all efforts to become more diverse, inclusive, and empathic communities by gaining an understanding of a community of humans and wild nature.
DEIN Programmatic Pursuits
Participants become more skilled stewards of human ecosystems and the more than human world. All DEIN programs are custom-designed to meet the unique needs of your institution and curated to meet your students and educators where they are.
Diversity Education In Nature (DEIN) comprises two programmatic strands:
Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging Workshops – Experiences offering participants nature-inspired toolkits that teach the skills to navigate DEI efforts within their intrapersonal journeys and communities – Learn more about our DEIB Workshops.
Go Out Into Nature workshops – Experiences that cultivate wonder, understanding, and stewardship for the place in which participants live and be leaders in their own lives – Learn more about our GO IN Workshops.
Programs can also be designed for adult colleagues to further their work in diversity, equity, inclusion, and outdoor environmental education. The programs are designed to build community and give educators a toolkit of skills for their work with others. DEIN programs can be integrated into all subject areas. Prices are developed on a sliding scale dependent on program design with consideration of an organization’s finances.
