Mrs. Olson's Third Grade Class

Welcome to Mrs. Olson's 3rd grade class!

I have been busy planning exciting lessons and projects for you this year. I am so happy to have you in my class. This is going to be a fantastic year!

Third Grade is a very important year. Our curriculum is both challenging and exciting. In addition to reading, writing, and mathematics, we will be doing many interesting social studies and science units using the Common Core Standards.

I realize that teaching your child is a privilege, as well as a tremendous responsibility. I will do my best this year to ensure that each student has a motivating and safe learning experience in the classroom. However, I cannot do this alone; I need your help. We all need to be partners in the learning process. I need each of you to encourage your child at home by helping to ensure that they have completed their assignments. I encourage you to be part of your child’s educational experiences both online and offline this year.

About Mrs. Olson

Welcome! I grew up in New Jersey in a family of educators. My mom was a third grade teacher and my dad was a principal. I received my B.A. from Rutgers University and my teaching degree at S.F. State. I worked at Desktop.com before starting my teaching career in 2004 at Cambrian School District. Science and technology are my passions. I was selected into our district's Digital Film Academy and won Best Language Arts Film in the K-3 category at our district's film festival for my, "Awesome Adjectives" video in 2012. I also was selected to be part of the iPad Academy and our school received a Macbook Cart as result of several teachers who joined this program. You can view the movie here:

This is my 17th year teaching at Farnham. I am very grateful that my daughter also attends Farnham. It is really special to be able to share this experience with her. I am honored to be part of the Farnham Community as both a teacher and parent. My oldest daughter will attend Price Middle School this year. I have really enjoyed building many friendships over the years as a parent volunteer and teacher.

When I am not in the classroom, I am spending my time with my husband (Jason) and our daughters. We love picking apples in our backyard, visiting our family beach house in Sea Isle City, New Jersey and building memories as a family. Last year we got a dog named Cowboy who brings us joy!
